Large properties have their own checklist
Space is rarely the problem in Potomac. Most homes have more than enough driveway for any size we carry, including the 30 yard. The things we ask about here are different:
Gates and entry pillars. Measure the clear opening. The truck needs roughly 10 to 12 feet of width to come through comfortably, and a gate that opens inward on a curve can narrow that. If it is close, send a photo and we will tell you honestly whether it works.
Driveway surface. Paver, cobble, exposed aggregate, and stamped concrete driveways are common here and they are expensive to repair. Tell us what you have. We set the container on boards, and we can often place it on a plain asphalt or gravel service area instead of the decorative part.
Septic and wells. Some Potomac properties, especially the larger lots farther out, are on well and septic. Never have a loaded dumpster or a truck cross a septic tank or drain field. If the only open area is lawn, find out where the field is first.
Trees. Long, tree-lined driveways are beautiful and sometimes low. The truck needs clear height along the approach and extra clearance over the spot where the container comes off.

Street placement is rare, but here is the rule
Potomac is unincorporated. If a container ever needs to sit on a public county road, it takes a dumpster permit from the Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services. River Road (MD 190) and Falls Road (MD 189) are state roads. Communities such as Avenel have association rules on top of that, so check with your HOA about containers visible from the street.

Can you place a 30 yard dumpster on a long private driveway?
Yes, as long as the truck has the width and overhead clearance to get to the spot. The 30 yard is 18 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 6 feet high.
Will the dumpster mark a paver driveway?
It can. Pavers can shift under concentrated weight. We use boards to spread the load, and we recommend placing the container on asphalt, concrete, or a gravel area when one is available.
Can you deliver when I am not there?
Yes. Give us the gate code or arrange for the gate to be open, and mark the spot. Many of our Potomac deliveries are coordinated with a contractor, a house manager, or a real estate agent.
